The International Press Institute (IPI) will hold its 2018 annual World Congress in Abuja, Nigeria from 21-23 June 2018. Under the theme “Why Good Journalism Matters”, the World Congress will affirm the indispensable role of quality media in building strong societies, showcasing investigative stories and projects that bring positive change to individuals and communities in Africa and around the world.

The Transcorp Abuja Hilton is the official venue and the hotel for the IPI World Congress. All the sessions and most of the evening events will be held here.

Rates are expressed in Nigerian naira (₦) and include breakfast for one person and all applicable taxes (10% Service Charge and 5% VAT).

We advise our guests to pay with their credit cards and in local currency (Nigerian naira) to take advantage of more favourable currency conversion rates offered by your bank.

You can use the OANDA currency calculator to check the exchange rate. Please note, however, that this is not a fixed, guaranteed rate and it should only serve you as a guide. Make sure you check the rate offered by the bank.

The hotel is a 40-minute drive from the international airport. Hotel amenities include: swimming pool, fitness room, airline desk, ATM & foreign currency exchange, beauty salons, shops, etc.

Citizens of most countries, except for certain countries in West Africa (member states of the Economic Community of West African States - ECOWAS), require a visa for entry into Nigeria.
Please register for the Congress and send us your:
- Passport scan of photo and info page
- Date of arrival and point of entry
- Flight details: airline and flight number

Our local host committee will arrange a visa on arrival for you.

* Passport validity: your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Nigeria.
* Blank passport pages: one page required for entry stamp
* Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip (measles-mumps-rubella - MMR, vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, etc). Travelers may be required to show proof of vaccinations, so please make sure you have your International certificates of vaccination (yellow WHO card) with you.
