IPI World Congress 2018 has ended

The International Press Institute (IPI) held its 2018 annual World Congress in Abuja, Nigeria from 21-23 June 2018. Under the theme “Why Good Journalism Matters”, the World Congress affirmed the indispensable role of quality media in building strong societies, showcasing investigative stories and projects that bring positive change to individuals and communities in Africa and around the world.

Lisa Akinyi May coordinates the Money Trail Grant Project. Money Trail is a collaborative project between highly regarded journalism and training organisations – Finance Uncovered, Free Press Unlimited, Journalismfund.eu – and Oxfam Novib.

Money Trail offers working grants for mixed teams of African, Asian and European journalists to investigate cross-border illicit financial flows, tax abuse and corruption in Africa, Asia and Europe.
 
The project also offers training courses focused on how to investigate tax abuse, money laundering and corruption plus digital safety. Two trainings will be organised in London (Sept 2018, Nov 2019), two in Abuja, (June 2019, July 2020) and two in Jakarta (Feb 2019, Feb 2020).

Grant applications can be done here. The first deadline is on the 15th of July.
