The International Press Institute (IPI) will hold its 2018 annual World Congress in Abuja, Nigeria from 21-23 June 2018. Under the theme “Why Good Journalism Matters”, the World Congress will affirm the indispensable role of quality media in building strong societies, showcasing investigative stories and projects that bring positive change to individuals and communities in Africa and around the world.

Matthew Caruana Galizia

International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)
Matthew Caruana Galizia is a journalist and software engineer and a founding member of ICIJ's Data & Research Unit. The Unit's work on the Panama Papers led to ICIJ winning the Pulitzer prize for explanatory reporting in 2017.
He holds a joint postgraduate degree in journalism from Aarhus University and City University London and was a Carnegie-Knight fellow at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. While working at FT Labs, he was a core engineer on several products for the Pearson publishing group. Prior to joining ICIJ, he worked on an investigative journalism team led by Giannina Segnini at La Nación, in Costa Rica.
