IPI World Congress 2018 has ended

The International Press Institute (IPI) held its 2018 annual World Congress in Abuja, Nigeria from 21-23 June 2018. Under the theme “Why Good Journalism Matters”, the World Congress affirmed the indispensable role of quality media in building strong societies, showcasing investigative stories and projects that bring positive change to individuals and communities in Africa and around the world.

Lai Mohammed is the current Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture. A lawyer, businessman and former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he received law degrees from the University of Lagos and the Nigerian Law School, respectively. In 1989, he co-founded the law firm Edu & Mohammed as principal partner. Prior to, he worked in various public relations positions for the Nigerian Airports Authority for almost 10 years. His previous political positions include Chief of Staff to Lagos State Governor (1999-2002); Chairman, Media & Publicity Committee, Advanced Congress of Democrats-ACD (2006); National Publicity Secretary, Action Congress-AC (2006-2010); National Publicity Secretary, Action Congress Of Nigeria-ACN (2010-2013); Interim National Publicity Secretary, APC (2013-2014); and National Publicity Secretary, APC (2014-2015)‎.
