IPI World Congress 2018 has ended

The International Press Institute (IPI) held its 2018 annual World Congress in Abuja, Nigeria from 21-23 June 2018. Under the theme “Why Good Journalism Matters”, the World Congress affirmed the indispensable role of quality media in building strong societies, showcasing investigative stories and projects that bring positive change to individuals and communities in Africa and around the world.

Lisa is an international journalism trainer, editor, and writer who works extensively in the developing world. She is the author of several handbooks for the European Journalism Centre, on issues such as covering LGBTQI+ communities, development, and how NGOs work with media organizations. She designed an LGBTQI+ communications and journalism program in Ukraine for Thomson Reuters Foundation, leads communications programming for LGBT activists across Sub-Saharan Africa, and edits the Interruptrr Africa newsletter, which amplifies the voices of African women journalists. And she has appeared as a judge on journalism reality TV programs. She worked for Reuters for 15 years, including as bureau chief in New York, and as a political and financial journalist, and radio and TV presenter.
